As the name might suggest, this red blend from Spain has been aged for a year under the sea, although is primary appeal relates to the delicious base ingredients. Crafted from Grenache and Cabernet, along with a touch of Syrah, all from Priorat, it is loaded with a wonderful combination of cherry, plums and blackcurrant fruit flavours, allied to cracked black pepper and a touch of creamy chocolate. Medium-weight in mid-palate mouthfeel, this may be a fully ripe red, but the sensation is not heavy, while the finish is dry and mouth-watering, with plenty of dense, fine tannins. Patrick Schmitt MW
