Tasting notes:
This wine, named after the flowing river in northern Spain, is produced and bottled by a serious wine company in Castilla y Léon. It is a really interesting example of unoaked Verdejo. Aged in concrete for 12 months and a further 6 months on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks, the wine shows more depth and complexity than a \\\'simple\\\' version of Verdejo. Mid-gold in hue with yellow peach, butter and cream nuances and a lovely lift of crushed yellow rose petals and a typical green herbal note. The palate is dry and mid-weight with lively acidity. A hint of astringency gives extra structure and the creaminess provides an umami texture, suggesting that the wine is a perfect pairing for Chinese food in this Year of the Horse. Clean and fruit-forward on entry, but with plenty of \\\'guts\\\' on the palate and finish. [Patricia Stefanowicz MW]
