Tasting notes:
Champagne Laurent-Perrier began in 1812 when local barrel-maker and bottler, André-Michel Pierlot, established himself in Tours-sur-Marne as a négociant. His son had no descendants so transferred the domaine to his Chef de Caves, Eugène Laurent. Laurent\'s young widow, Mathilde-Emilie Perrier, took over and appended her name to form Laurent-Perrier. Their daughter succeeded her mother in 1925 sold the domaine to Marie-Louise de Nonancourt, yet another Champenoise widow in 1939. And the de Nonancourt family are today the owners and directors of the House. This wine is a complete expression of Blanc de Blancs, showing a pale yellow-gold colour with persistent tiny bubble and a complex bouquet of yellow peaches and William pears with an undertone of crêpe and lemon. Brut Nature (sans sucre), the palate is rich and round on the attack supported by bracing acidity and brittle-textured mousse. Precise and dynamic, the wine demonstrates layers of flavours and textures leading to a lengthy finish. A perfect match for nutty and rich Osetra caviar. [Patricia Stefanowicz MW]
