Tasting notes:
The House, the fifth oldest in Champagne, was established in 1757 in the village of Ludes. And, a perhaps little known fact, one of Henri Abelé\'s ancestors was Antoine de Muller, the Cellar Master at Clicquot-Ponsardin at the time when the Widow and he drilled the infamous table to \'riddle\' the bottles of sparkling wine! Today Maison Abelé makes amazing wines and this example is no exception: Pale lemon-green in colour with tiny bubbles and a narrow cordon, the wine is very fresh and fruit-forward with green apples and pears underlaid by a fresh croissant nuance. Extra-Brut in style (6g/l r.s.), the palate has lovely definition of flavour supported by bracing acidity and velvet-textured mousse. Gentle toasty notes complete the wine, a perfect match for langoustine risotto. [Patricia Stefanowicz MW]
