Tasting notes:
The House was created by Henri Lhôpital in 1912 in Damery during the Champagne riots. The motto, Au Nom de la Terre and the crest honour Henri\'s son André, who in 1939 joined the Curassiers, the oldest cavalry regiment in the French army, dating back to the 17th century. This Réserve de la Terre wine is from certified organic vineyards and Telmont\'s goal is for all it partner vineyards to be 100% organic by 2031. The wine, pale lemon-yellow in colour with minuscule bubbles, shows intense green apple and red berries with a delicate yeast overlay. Extra-brut in style (5.6g/l r.s.) the palate is quite linear and citrussy, light-bodied but concentrated, with bracing acidity and brittle mousse texture giving structure. Very fine with good length and will benefit from some time in bottle. Would make a lovely accompaniment to cold chicken with tarragon mayonnaise even now. [Patricia Stefanowicz MW]
