Bual grapes are typically grown in warmer sites on the south side of Madeira,and so ripen more fully. This example displays a fairly deep tawny-browncolour with green lights on the rim. It is elegant, with Sevilla orangemarmalade, quince and beeswax with toasty wood, a little saltiness andChristmas spices. Medium in sweetness and midweight, the palate has racyacidity integrated with the flavours. Textured and beautifully balanced, this isa wine for creamy Philadelphia-style cheesecake with a digestivebiscuit/pecan base. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
