Jeremy Clarkson slams Ed Miliband’s beer advice as ‘not sensible’
Jeremy Clarkson has slated the pub and beer advice given by the Carbon Zero Services that is funded by Ed Miliband’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
The takedown of Miliband followed the new government-backed energy tool suggesting publicans serve slightly warmer pints and switch off bottle fridges overnight in a bid to rein in soaring energy costs.
Clarkson was asked for his opinion on the scheme via social media when one user queried: “Will you be following mad Ed’s advice of serving warmer beer?”
‘Not sensible’
The former Top Gear presenter, who owns both The Farmer’s Dog pub in Asthall near Burford and the beer brand Hawkstone Lager replied: “The man isn’t sensible.”

The guidance, championed by the Energy Secretary, comes amid a backdrop of spiking oil markets, especially with the conflict in the Middle East contributing to pushing up crude prices up before recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran.

Online advice from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has urged the UK’s pubs to crack down on “avoidable” electricity use by keeping a keen eye on any power-hungry kit such as extraction fans, fridges, ovens and lighting.
Speaking about the situation on X, commentators from across the sector chimed in stating: “Cask Marque won’t be happy, I have never heard of something so ridiculous.”
Clarkson’s beer and his pub have both featured in the most recent series of the reality show Clarkson’s Farm, which was released last year.
