Nyetimber returns to ProWein to drive international awareness
West Sussex-based Nyetimber has returned to ProWein this year, the only English wine producer to have its own individual exhibition stand at the show.
At this year’s ProWein, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, Nyetimber will be presenting its 2013 Blanc de Blancs vintage to an international audience for the first time. The wine launched in the UK in early March.
ProWein marks the latest in a series of international activations for the brand in 2019, which included the international debut of Nyetimber 1086 wines at The Alpina Gstaad in February, Nyetimber’s launch in The Netherlands and the launch of Nyetimber 1086 wines in Sweden.
Founded in 1988, Nyetimber is looking to actively increase international recognition of its wines. The brand is already present in 19 international markets including Austria, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the UAE. This year will see the producer expand its distribution to The Netherlands, the United States and Asia.
In order to aid this expansion, the winery has hired export managers based in both the US and Asia in order to work with distributors and drive sales and brand recognition.
Commenting on the brand’s intentions, Eric Heerema, owner and CEO of Nyetimber, commented: “This is an important moment for Nyetimber and for English sparkling wine. The appeal of English sparkling wine is becoming genuinely global, and while the UK will always be our home and our priority, with production at record levels this year after last autumn’s spectacular harvest, we are well-placed to meet the growing international demand for our award-winning sparkling wines. We are looking forward to introducing more people all over the world to the taste of Nyetimber, which we are confident matches the best of what is on offer from France and the rest of the world.”
This year, Nyetimber will also expand its production to one million bottles a year as a result of the 2018 harvest, which it claims was the largest in quantity and highest in quality since 2009.
