English vineyard owner killed in car crash

Tributes have been paid to the c0-founder of English vineyard Kerry Vale, June Ferguson, who died in a car crash last month.

June Ferguson

The 64-year-old grandmother of two died after her Nissan Qashqai was found crashed into a hedge near the Blue Bell Hotel on Tuesday, November 27 at around 7.20pm, as reported by the Shropshire Star.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were all sent to the crash but Ferguson was pronounced dead at the scene.

A tribute was posted on the Kerry Vale Vineyard Facebook page on Wednesday, December 12.

“It is with a heavy heart that this week we say goodbye to June, co-founder and the heart of soul of our vineyard,” it read.

“Thank you for the love and support we have received from all of our wonderful customers and friends of the vineyard over the last few weeks. Your kind words have meant such a lot to us at this difficult time.”

June ran the business on the Shropshire-Powys border with her husband Geoff, daughter Nadine and son-in-law Dan for almost 10 years.

The vineyard, on the Shropshire/Powys border, was planted in 2010 and covers six acres of farmland.

An inquest into Mrs Ferguson’s death will take place next year, on March 6 at Shirehall in Shrewsbury.

West Mercia Police is still appealing for witnesses, and anyone with information can call police on 101, quoting 665S of November 27.
