Amcor Capsules opens new facility in Scotland

Capsule and closures specialist Amor Capsules has opened a new facility in Alloa in Scotland which will deliver technical and product training and testing capabilities to distillers, bottlers and winemakers throughout Scotland and the UK.

Amcor Technical Studio, which opened yesterday (14/02) will provide education for Amcor’s customers on a range of technical processes. These include applying closures, ensuring proper sealing, preventing application errors, performing quality inspections and troubleshooting common challenges.

Those visiting the facility can also learn about the laboratory’s capsule testing facilities and screwcap ROPP application testing operation. They will also witness how an advanced shadowgraph projector can measure capsules, closures and glasses with what they claim is “unprecedented accuracy” to ensure a perfect seal.

To ensure the optimum performance of their closures, Amcor technicians will conduct on-site training using the producer’s actual bottling line and staff to ensure “a quality seal and stunning appearance”, a process that will be led by industry veteran Gordon McAuley, field technical support at Amcor Capsules UK.

Amcor Capsules field technical service manager Olivier Fortun said: “We’re proud to offer a unique environment solely focused on this vital part of the bottling process, and being centrally located allows us to be active members of the distilling community.

“As much we enjoy the technical aspects, crafting spirits and wine remains all about people. This is why we want to be here now – to help ensure that whenever a bottle is opened, the consumer receives all of the time, caring and craft that the distiller/winemaker and bottlers put into it”.
