Riedel teams up with Elton John on rainbow decanter

Riedel has created a rainbow double magnum decanter in partnership with singer-songwriter legend Elton John, with all profits from its sale to be donated to the Elton John Aids Foundation.

The Amadeo Double Magnum Rainbow Decanter

Just 50 Amadeo Double Magnum Rainbow Decanters, each engraved with its assigned number, will be produced worldwide, priced at £2,250.

Riedel will donate the profits made from its same, totalling €25,000, to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Each decanter has been mouth blown in Riedel’s Kufstein glassworks in Austria, handcrafted to display the colours of the rainbow and shaped to mimic the form of the harp.

Maximilian J. Riedel, 11th generation CEO and president of Riedel Crystal, explains his motivation for the choice of colours and design for the new decanter.

“We create products for a segment of the glass sector that is all about culinary delights, enjoyment and a refined lifestyle,” said Maximilian J. Riedel, 11th generation CEO and president of Riedel Crystal.

“Nevertheless, we must not forget that there is also another side to life. Today we are faced with the dark side of this world – even within the circle of our own friends and through the news that we are forced to see every day.

Elton John founded the Elton John Aids Foundation in 1993

“We are all called to help, and to promote all that is good in this world. This is why I feel a desire to make a statement with the Amadeo Double Magnum decanter”.

The Elton John AIDS Foundation, founded in 1992, is one of the world’s leading international not-for-profit organisations working year round to support those affected by HIV.

In the last 25 years it has raised more than £275 million to fund frontline programmes that help to alleviate the pain of those living with, affected by or at risk of HIV/AIDS.

“The rainbow has so many wonderful associations – from hope and promise to inclusion and tolerance,” said Elton John. “We are delighted and honoured that Riedel is donating funds from this beautiful piece to support the work of the Elton John AIDS Foundation; funds we can use to promote compassion in the fight against HIV and support services that will bring us closer to an AIDS free future.”
