#WeekInPictures: Brewing returns, floral spritzes and Bermondsey brilliance

From Somerset breweries to Tower Bridge spritzes and Michelin-starred Bermondsey dining, here’s what caught our eye this week.

New Exmoor Brewery restores brewing to Wiveliscombe

Brewing is returning to Wiveliscombe with the launch of the New Exmoor Brewery on the former Cotleigh site. Led by ex-Cotleigh brewer Shaun Vockins, the first beer off the line will be a Tawny Ale, with 10p per pint donated to the Jim Laker Charitable Trust. The move, in collaboration with Hogs Back Brewery, safeguards 10 jobs and strengthens Exmoor’s distribution network. Chairman Jonathan Price called the return to “Wivey” a celebration of heritage, with new managing director Simon French set to expand the brewery’s future.

The Rotunda Bar & Lounge at Four Seasons Hotel London at Tower Bridge has transformed into a floral sanctuary for its Summer Spritz Selection. Adorned with hundreds of dried bouquets and lavender from Kent, the takeover pairs a vibrant setting with cocktails crafted by Head of Bars Michele Lombardi. Highlights include Lavender Twilight, blending Takamaka rum, rose vermouth and Champagne, and Orchard Spritz with coconut rum, jasmine liqueur and apple cordial. Guests leave with their own bouquet as a memento of this countryside-inspired city escape.

Trivet Bermondsey: A fresh take on fine dining

Jonny Lake and Isa Bal’s two-Michelin-starred Trivet has redefined fine dining in Bermondsey since 2019, offering a seasonal à la carte in place of tasting menus. This summer, the restaurant launches a terrace menu celebrating peak produce, from Cornish turbot with cockles to caramelised apple terrine. Wine, curated by Master Sommelier Bal, is central, with a chronological list spanning Georgia to France. With its warm design, celebrated cellar and lively bar, Trivet blends creativity, hospitality and accessibility in a neighbourhood setting.
