Tiny Wine launches in London

The capital city has welcomed a site claiming to be ‘one of London’s smallest wine bars’, with its 50-bottle wine list and Latin American small plates borne from a ‘love of the little things’, according to the co-founder.

Tiny Wine, one of ‘London’s smallest wine bars’, has officially opened its doors in Fitzrovia.

The neighbourhood spot launched in the former Crudo site on 21 Foley Street, Fitzrovia, on Monday 21 July.

Headed up by Maria Yanez and Carlos Socorrom, founders of restaurant group Crudo Cocina Latina, Tiny Wine pairs a curated 50-bottle wine list with Latin American small plates.

Latin American inspo

Yanez said: “We’re very excited to be launching Tiny Wine as a brand new concept. Tiny Wine was born from a love of the little things: small producers, cosy spaces and great conversation.

“The Fitzrovia space felt like the perfect home for a wine bar that’s all about big flavours in small pours and bold Latin American bites.”

While Britain’s hospitality sector faces economic headwinds, including staffing shortages and sky-high prices, the property market remains strong, according to new data from Christie & Co.

Despite slower activity in major cities outside of London, the capital and South East England are experiencing a resurgence in demand.

Tiny by name, tiny by nature

At Tiny Wine, the wines are mostly natural or low-intervention, and the drinks menu also features a mix of spritzes, negronis and beers, including a Tequila ginger spritz, spicy margarita spritz and mezcal negroni.

In terms of food, everything is made for sharing. Bar snacks include Gildas – savoury Basque skewers – gourmet mini sandwiches called bocadillos and tapas.

Mixto ceviche, Smokey octopus gilda and the two Miami-inspired sandwiches, the Cubanito, with pulled pork, honey ham, cheese, Dijon mustard and pickles; and the Romeo & Julieta, featuring mozzarella, guava and rocoto, all feature on the menu.

Interior design

The 200 sq. foot venue has four areas. The main floor features textured walls and a central bar, with seating for 22 covers at high tables.

A standing wine shop space holds up to 10 people, and fresco tables provide space for 10 more covers. Downstairs, The Secret Room seats 16 more guests.

The new venue is one of several sites to open in the capital this month. Other exciting launches include Italian-inspired gastropub the Elephant in Clapton, mezcal bar Little Fires in Shoreditch, and dive bar All My Gods in Bethnal Green.
