Sazerac auctions rare whiskies for hurricane disaster fund

Sazerac Company has teamed up with BlockBar to raise cash in the wake of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, which struck the US in September and October respectively.

Sazerac is auctioning off some of its most prized whiskies to raise funds for the American Red Cross’s disaster relief in the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, which struck Western North Carolina and Florida with devastating force in late September and October.

Hurricane Helene was classified as a Category 4 storm, while Milton grew to a Category 5, the highest level on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, which is used to determine the strength of hurricanes.

Among the highly coveted spirits available via the online auction are bottles from the Sazerac Company’s top distilleries, including Buffalo Trace Distillery, The Last Drop Distillers, Barton 1792 Distillery, and A. Smith Bowman Distillery.

Our hearts go out to the families and communities affected by these devastating storms,” said Jake Wenz, CEO of Sazerac. “Our goal is to help aid the Hurricanes Milton and Helene recovery efforts in cities and states most impacted by the storms. Every dollar raised will go directly to those in need. We thank the American Red Cross for everything they do.”

Scarce bottles of Double Eagle Very Rare Kentucky Straight Bourbon and The Last Drop Release 33: 15th Anniversary 40-Year-Old Blended Scotch Whisky are up for grabs.
