iDealwine launches charity auction in aid of Ukraine

Online wine auctioneer iDealwine has announced that it is launching a charity auction, comprising more than 750 bottles, with all proceeds being donated to Ukraine Amitié, a charity sending financial aid and medical supplies to Ukraine.

The auction boasts 300 lots donated by some of Bordeaux’s best-known properties, top French wine producers, iDealwine and members of the wine trade.

Auction highlights include several rare Imperials (6 litres, or the equivalent of eight regular-sized bottles), among them a 2010 Lynch Bages, 2008 Lagrange, and 1994 Château Kirwan. Jeroboam picks include 2011 Fleur Cardinale, 2004 Leoville Poyferre, 1981 Château Siran, 2013 Château d’Issan, 2017 Leoville Barton, 1995 Château Dillon, and 2010 Lafon Rochet.

Meanwhile, Bordeaux connoisseurs have an embarrassment of riches to bid on, with highlights such as 2005 and 2011 Château Lafite Rothschild, 2015 Château Saint Pierre, 2009 Smith Haut Lafitte, 1999 Pontet Cantet, 1999 Château Clarke to name just a few.

Elsewhere, Bordeaux expert Jane Anson has donated ‘The Connoisseur Week’ – a trip to Bordeaux hosted by Anson and former Decanter publisher Sarah Kemp. The trip features private tastings, as well as lunches and dinners at Château Margaux, Lafite-Rothschild, Yquem, Haut-Bailly, and La Fleur Petrus.

Cyrille Jomand, CEO of iDealwine, commented that he was “once again blown away by the generosity of iDealwine’s partner wineries in France, by our loyal customers, and by the wine trade who have come together for an incredibly worthy cause. We are delighted to support Ukraine Amitié who are helping those on the ground in Ukraine and would like to thank Laurent Fortin of Château Dauzac for co-organising the sale.”

The auction is live now on iDealwine, and closes on 15 April.
