Wine Trade Sports Club Walk & Cycle in memory of Simon Leschallas

The Wine Trade Sports Club organised its first ever charity walk back in 1971 over 12 miles around the City of London. This year, the walk will take place in memory of Simon Leschallas, who died suddenly in July 2019.

Funds raised by the Wine Trade Sports Club are donated to The Wine Trade Sports Club Foundation, which was founded in 1973. The Foundation in return donates to The Drinks Trust.

To date, the Foundation – of which the charity walk forms part of its fundraising efforts – has donated nearly £750,000 to support those in the drinks industry.

This year, participants will be walking in honour of Simon Leschallas – a past master of the Vintners’ Company as well as a trustee of the Wine Trade Sports Club Foundation.

Leschallas was best known for his role as brand ambassador at Champagne Bollinger, where he was instrumental in a number of high profile sponsorship deals.

The charity walk will take place at Wiston Estate in Sussex, where friends, family and colleagues are invited to join in a 11km walk or cycle of a similar time, followed by a bbq. The walk will set off at 10am on Saturday 18th September.

The Foundation will provide more information nearer the time, though if you are unable to attend but wish to make a donation you can do so here.
