New beer launched for parents homeschooling their kids during lockdown

A new beer has been launched for parents who are homeschooling their children during lockdown. ‘Honey, I Flunked The Kids’ is a collaboration between Leeds brewery Amity Brew Co and national honey company Hilltop.

Lockdown beer for homeschooling parents

We are now well into our third national lockdown in England, and the challenge for parents of juggling responsibilities such as work, raising their children and attempting to homeschool them is not getting any easier.

There is hope that children could begin returning to classrooms next month, but until that time parents are still doing their best to support their kids’ educations from home.

‘Honey, I Flunked The Kids’ is a sweet 7.4% Belgian Golden Ale brewed with honey that is being launched as a half-term treat for parents who’re juggling many different pressures during lockdown.

Richard Degnan, who is the co-founder of Amity Brew Co and a father to two school aged children himself, said:

“I’ve got huge respect for all the parents out there juggling homeschooling with work and lockdown life. It’s so hard!

“We wanted to launch a sweet treat to act as a pat on the back to those homeschooling parents this half term….. you did it! Put the phonics and maths away, crack open a beer and enjoy a few minutes of quiet time.”

Founder and managing director of Hilltop, Scott Davies, added:

“Honey is the perfect pairing for a smooth beer. It counters the hop bitterness but also the sugar ferments to create the alcohol. We all deserve a treat this lockdown and this beer will hopefully raise a smile or two with exhausted parents and beer fans alike!”

Honey, I Flunked The Kids launches in the last week of half term (17 February 2021) available in cases of 12 or 6 440ml cans via amitybrew.co.
