Kiss launches first rum

Glam rock band Kiss has started to roll out a brand new spirits range in collaboration with a Swedish merchandising company.

Kiss, known for their heavy make-up and daring costumes, have partnered with Sweden’s Brands for Fans on two full-strength, premium spirits due for release this year.

The first release from the Kiss Rum Kollection, Kiss Black Diamond rum is made using a blend of Caribbean rums aged for up to 15 years.

Named after a track on the band’s first album, Kiss, Black Diamond rum is bottled at 40% ABV and said to offer “restrained sweetness and a marked oak-character”. The palate will apparently display notes of dried apricot, arrack, vanilla, nuts, dried dates, cinnamon and chocolate.

The rum is available to purchase online and in select retailers, with an RRP of SEK369 (US$42).

Sari H Wilholm, marketing director and co-founder of Brands for Fans, said the product in an “amazing match for a band who were pioneers both musically and visually in the world of rock ’n’ roll.”

“When I look at the bottle, we have created a label that embodies everything I associate with Kiss: the attitude, the costumes, the songs and the makeup we all grew up with. Listening to Black Diamond still gives me the chills, and the rum makes me just as excited.”
