The finest Proseccos for under £15

With summer fast approaching, we have compiled a selection of the finest Proseccos for under £15 from this year’s Prosecco Masters – the largest annual blind tasting of Prosecco in the world.

Taking in a range of styles, from dry to sweet, as well as broad sweep of areas, including both DOC and DOCG, and an organic Prosecco, the following list not only brings you the greatest bottles for bargain fizz prices, but also a set of sips to suit all tastes and demands.

The Proseccos below also serve to highlight the variety available within this popular sparkling wine sector, as well as the quality on offer.

With Prosecco providing a youthful, aromatic fizz designed to be drunk young, and a reliably good and refreshing type of fizz, consumers just can’t get enough of it.

However, some examples are better than others, so read on to find out what we believe are the best Proseccos on the market right now for under £15.

We’ll be bringing you more recommendations next week, should you want to shell out a bit more cash on Prosecco, or, for some luxury samples right now, click here to see our five ultimate Prosecco selection.

Below are the Proseccos, as well as some words on the independent, ‘blind’ tasting process that led to their medal rating.

Argeo Prosecco DOC Treviso Brut

A pretty Prosecco with lots of peach and pear fruit flavours and a touch of citrus zest to make this a bitter-sweet Prosecco of great appeal.

P.Lex Prosecco DOC Spumante Bio

Producer: Botter
Residual sugar level: Extra Dry, 14.5g/l
Vintage: Non-vintage
Price: £10-15
Medal: Gold in The Prosecco Masters 2020

This organic Prosecco is super ripe in style, with masses of peach and apricot fruit, a creamy texture to the fizz, a touch of sweetness, and then a bright zesty finish, ensuring you’ll want sip after sip.

Montelliana Prosecco DOC Treviso Extra Dry

Producer: Cantina Montelliana e dei Colli Asolani
Residual sugar level: Extra Dry, 15g/l
Vintage: 2019

Medal: Gold in The Prosecco Masters 2020

Despite being quite a sweet style of Prosecco, with lots of ripe peach and pear fruit, this is also a zesty fizz, with a hint of mint, making this a rich and refreshing drinking experience.

Prosecco Millesimato Cuvée Oro DOC Treviso Spumante Extra Dry

Producer: Conca d’Oro
Residual sugar level: Extra Dry, 18 g/l
Vintage: 2019
Price: £10-15
Medal: Gold in The Prosecco Masters 2020

This noticeably sweet Prosecco is crammed with ripe melon and peach fruit along with a touch of pear drop and lime to create an indulgent, but bright, style of fizz.

Maschio dei Cavalieri Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG ‘Rive di Colbertaldo’ Brut

Producer: Cantine Maschio
Residual sugar level: Brut, 10 g/l
Vintage: 2019
Price: £10-15
Medal: Gold in The Prosecco Masters 2020

This DOCG Prosecco hails from one of the region’s highly-rated vineyard areas, classified as Rive, and it’s not hard to see why this site, called Colbertaldo, was elevated to such rarified status. Packed with fresh orchard fruits and honeydew melon, and a lovely citrus zest character, it’s pure and bright, as well as juicy and ripe, and complemented by a lovely creamy-textured fizz. Quite dry by Prosecco standards, this fizz delivers more fresh fruit than sweetness, and represents a serious Prosecco for a surprisingly affordable price.

Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG Brut Biodiversity

Producer: Villa Sandi
Residual sugar level: Brut, 12 g/l
Vintage: Non-vintage
Price: £10-15
Medal: Gold in The Prosecco Masters 2020

A lovely Prosecco highlighting the delicious peach and pink grapefruit characters seen in the fruit hailing from Asolo, a region that produces ripe grapes that lend themselves particularly well to a drier style of Prosecco, such as this Brut.
