Gus Gluck, co-founder Quality Wines in London, has launched an Australian wine auction to raise money for victims of the wildfires that are raging across the country.

Gluck will start the auction on Friday

The online auction, which starts on Friday 10 January and ends at midday on 12 January, was made possible by generous donations from members of the UK wine trade, including David Gleave, founder of Liberty Wines.

Among the lots are a bottle of 1992 Wendouree Malbec; a magnum of Tolpuddle 2015 Chardonnay; a bottle of Henschke Hill of Grace 2013; a bottle of Penfolds Grange Hermitage 1961 from the cellar of the late Bill Baker of Reid Wines; Clonakilla 2012 Shiraz/Viognier; and a magnum of Grosset Polish Hill Riesling 2017.

For the full list of wines available at the auction, including bottles from Cullen, Ochota Barrels, Leeuwin, Mitolo and Ministry of Clouds, click here.

Gluck has a personal connection to Australia, as he recently spend a number of years there working for Mac Forbes in the Yarra Valley. He will be posting updates about the auction via @gusgluck on Instagram stories.

The money raised from the auction will be donated to the Wildlife Rescue Emergency Fund and the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund.

The wildfires in Australia are the worst in recorded history and have resulted in a significant loss of life, destruction of homes, farms, vineyards, flora and fauna.

In terms of vine regions, the Adelaide Hills has been the worst hit by the fires. Among the wineries affected are Vineloper; Tillbrook Estate; Barristers Block; Tomich Wines; Golding Wines; Anderson Hill; Bird in Hand; Petaluma and Henschke.
