Dominic West planning his own English wine

Having just joined Amazon Prime Video’s The Wine Show as a presenter, Hollywood heartthrob Dominic West is keen to make his own English sparkling wine and has his sights set on a vineyard in Wiltshire.

The Wine Show’s Dominic West wants to buy his own vineyard in Wiltshire and making English fizz

The Affair actor, who has just joined The Wine Show as a presenter, revealed the news to The Metro at the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards this week.

West told the paper that he was planning on buying a vineyard in Chippenham, in northwest Wiltshire, admitting that the UK’s suitability for grape growing is the only silver lining when it comes to global warming.

“It’s the only good thing about global warming. We will be able to keep on making sparkling wine in England,” he said.

Yorkshire-born West also revealed that he was keen to follow in chat show host Graham Norton’s footsteps and launch his own wine brand.

“Graham Norton has his own wine, was it Chardonnay? I’m thinking of planting a vineyard in Chippenham and making it myself.

“They make wine in Wiltshire, they make wine in the Cotswolds as well. And Welsh fizz can be quite good too. I’m thinking of making it my sideline,” he said.

Earlier this month db reported that West had joined the starry line-up on Amazon Prime Video’s The Wine Show, presenting alongside fellow actors Matthew Goode, Matthew Rhys and James Purefoy.

The third series of the show makes Quinta do Noval in the Douro Valley its base. “It’s the best job I’ve ever had,” West told The Metro.

The show will feature West and Purefoy treading grapes at Quinta do Noval, visiting Lisbon to explore the Portuguese origins of one of India’s most famous dishes, and venturing to Alentejo to learn about cork.

“I love wine but I’m hardly an expert, so it’s been great fun to be on this journey of discovery and I’ve realised there’s lots to discover,” West added.
