DRC leads ‘superb array’ at London sale

Fine and rare labels will be much in evidence at Sotheby’s sale in London next week, with parcels of first growths and grand cru Burgundy taking pride of place in the line-up.

Taking place on 10 July, the sale features a consignment from “a great northern European cellar” and a parcel of top Bordeaux featuring great labels from both banks of the Gironde and is expected to realise £1.2-£1.6 million.

Highlights of the sale include cases and bottles in various formats of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s grands crus from the 1990s and early 2000s, as well as cases of Armand Rousseau’s Chambertin and Clos St Jacques, Georges Roumier’s 2007 Bonnes Mares and Jacques Frédéric-Mugnier’s 2007 Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses.

White Burgundy meanwhile includes Montrachet from DRC, Domaine Ramonet’s Chassagne Montrachet and Chablis from Domaine Raveneau.

From Bordeaux come cases of 1986 and 2000 Lafite, 1989 Haut-Brion, 1990 La Mission Haut-Brion, 1999 Palmer and 2003 Cheval Blanc.

Meanwhile there is also 1979 Krug and Krug’s Clos du Mesnil on offer alongside a selection of 19th century Madeira.
