Naked Wines to fund £9,000 bursary for Plumpton wine students

Online retailer Naked Wines is marking its tenth anniversary by funding a year’s tuition fees for a student enrolling on a wine production degree at Plumpton College in East Sussex.

Prospective students must meet certain entry requirements and eligibility criteria to apply for the bursary.

Those considering applying for the bursary must meet the grade requirements for their degree of choice and must not have attained a degree or equivalent from another institution. They must also pass the ‘postcode check’ which identifies specific postcodes detailed under the Office of Students funded project guidelines.

As part of their applicants must then write a personal statement of up to 4,000 words. The bursary will cover one year’s tuition fees while Naked Wines has promised to help the successful candidate to gain work experience in the industry.

Eamon FitzGerald, managing director of Naked Wines UK said: “We wanted to do something significant to celebrate our 10th anniversary and pay it forward for the future. Plumpton college is undoubtedly one of the best institutes in the world for wine education and we are delighted to partner with them to support someone in entering a career in winemaking.

“Once they graduate, we’ll give them the contacts they need, through the global Naked network to gain work experience and further their careers. If one day they become a winemaker and we drink a wine together, well that would be perfect.”’

Chris Foss, manager of Plumpton Wine Division, added: “We are really thrilled to partner with Naked Wines in facilitating a new career in wine! This brilliant opportunity will really give a deserving student the benefit of Naked’s expertise, experience and resources.”

The closing date for submission is 28 February and one bursary is available. To apply, please click here.
