Woodford Reserve launches Old Fashioned cocktail syrup

Revered Bourbon brand Woodford Reserve has launch a bitter orange Old Fashioned cocktail syrup in the UK aimed at bartenders in a hurry.

Woodford Reserve has launched an Old Fashioned syrup for busy bartenders

Due to be on back bars across Britain next month, the syrup recreates the flavour of the core ingredients of the classic serve – bitters, sugar and orange essence.

The Old Fashioned is often perceived as being complex and time consuming to perfect, leading Woodford Reserve to develop the syrup for busy bartenders.

The brand worked with some of the UK’s leading mixologists to develop the syrup, conducting tasting workshops in order to create a liquid that would complement the signature notes of Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select.

The recipe uses bitters, sugars and botanical extracts designed to blend seamlessly with the fruit, caramel, spice and vanilla notes in the Bourbon.

“It has been inspiring to see such a respected brand wanting to work so closely with bartenders for this type of project. It was fantastic to share my insights on what my customers want from an Old Fashioned,” said Giorgio Bargiani, senior bartender at The Connaught Bar.

Emily Richardson, head of super premium brands at Brown Forman, added: “Woodford Reserve has always sought to create a perfectly balanced liquid and the Old Fashioned syrup was no different.

“It was important to identify key flavours to complement the notes in the Bourbon. The final liquid is the perfect reflection of the quality and craftsmanship of Woodford Reserve and we look forward to the reception from the UK trade.”

Bartenders will receive a complimentary 500ml bottle of Old Fashioned Cocktail Syrup when they buy Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select.

According to the brand, the perfect serve is made with 50ml of Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select Bourbon and 10ml of Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned Cocktail Syrup stirred with ice and garnished with an orange zest.
