The unnerving cloud formation was spotted by the manager of Sandhurst Vineyard, Nicola Nicholas, last week.

She told Kent Online: “We were picking our Chardonnay grapes today and we all saw this amazing face looking down at us.

“The crop is huge so I presume he was shocked at how much we were picking,” she joked.

Sandhurst is a family-owned vineyard and hop garden planted with grape varieties including Chardonnay, Albarino, Seyval Blanc, Bacchus, Reichensteiner and Pinot Precoce.

2018 has been hailed as a record year for the UK wine industry with trade body WineGB predicting that as many as 18 million bottles could be produced.

Meanwhile, in other drinks-related face apparitions, in 2015 a church organist from Plymouth allegedly saw the face of Jesus in his cocktail cabinet after feeling he was being watched one night.

Robert Burgess-Moon experienced the Christ-like apparition while watching TV at home in Whitleigh.

“I thought ‘There’s a face looking at me through the cabinet’. It looked like the face of Jesus, the image everybody has of him,” he told the Plymouth Herald.

“We were quite shocked, it was just not something you expect, it’s like a Holy Spirit cabinet now,” he joked at the time.
