Bolney switches to screwcap

English wine estate Bolney has announced it intends to bottle all of its still wines under screwcap rather than cork starting with the release of the 2017 vintage this April.

The winery announced that it would be using the ‘hot-foil brand’ Vinotwist for its closures from now on. Each cap has a Saranex lining which reportedly allows for “similar permeability to the corks that Bolney Estate previously used,” and the caps are also fully recyclable.

Bolney continued that as its still wines are made to be consumed young, the switch to screwcap made sense and added it hoped the new closure would make the wines more appealing to consumers – especially when warmer spring and summer weather returns and barbecues and picnics become possible again.

Sam Linter (pictured), managing director and head winemaker at Bolney Wine Estate said: “Our transition to screwcaps has been done with careful consideration, diligence and planning. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our processes as well as increase efficiency. This in turn delivers our promise to consistently produce delicious wine.”
