Bourgogne Wines Club returns

The Bourgogne Wine Board (BIVB) is bringing back its ‘Bourgogne Wines Club’ this year with a series of Sherlock Holmes-inspired masterclasses.

Burgundy’s Côte D’Or

The theme for the four 2017 sessions is ‘unlock the secrets’, with each masterclass being led by Xavier Rousset MS and focusing on some of Burgundy’s various appellations, with an emphasis on lesser-known ‘climats’ such as Saint-Bris and Givry.

The sessions, each of which will be held at The Hospital Club in central London, are designed to be “informal and fun” and with a focus on interaction and debate. Around 12 wines will be tasted at each session with a blind flight served at the end to test if attendees have been paying attention.

Those who sign up to the club will also have the chance to win a meal for two at Rousset’s Burgundian-themed restaurant, Cabotte.

The sessions are:

10 April – The Case of the Subtle Saints: a close inspection of Saint-Romain, Saint-Aubin, Saint-Véran & Saint-Bris

15 May – The Signs of the Three – putting the magnifying glass to Petit Chablis, Chablis & Chablis Premier Cru

19 June – The Mystery of the Enigmatic Beauties: tracking down Bourgogne Chitry, Bourgogne Vézelay, Bourgogne Côtes d’Auxerre & Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits

10 July – A Study in Three Climats* – an in-depth examination of Chassagne-Montrachet, Pouilly-Fuissé, Givry & Nuits-Saint-Georges
