The first Asian Cabernet Sauvignon Masters 2017

The drinks business Hong Kong is now taking entries for the first Asian Cabernet Sauvignon Masters 2017 – the biggest and most extensive blindtasting competition of Cabernet Sauvignon in Asia.

Judged by an expert panel including Master Sommeliers and our editor-in-chief, Patrick Schmitt MW, and chaired by the drinks business Hong Kong editorial team, the first Asian Cabernet Sauvignon Masters 2017 will identify the best Cabernet Sauvignon from all over the world representing every price range.

Divided only by price bracket and – for ease of judging – whether the style is oaked or unoaked, each entrant will be completely blindtasted without  prejudice regarding the country of origin.

Wines are scored out of 100, with those gaining over 95 points awarded the top title of Master, those earning over 90 points awarded Gold, those over 85 points a Silver and those over 80 points a Bronze.

At a cost of HK$1,540 per wine, entries are now being accepted for the Masters which will be held in the first quarter of 2017. Three samples per wine are asked for but there is no limit to the different wines entered.

Blends are also accepted, providing Cabernet Sauvignon makes up at least 50%.

The results and analysis will be published in the drinks business Hong Kong magazine, online and across all our social media platforms as well as in the English and Chinese digital newsletters.

The drinks business has over 12,000 readers in the wine trade for our print magazine and our website now averages 500,000 unique visitors a month and 2.1 million page views.

The drinks business also has more than 20,000 recipients of the daily newsletters, over 78,000 Twitter followers and 71,000 followers on Facebook.

For more information and to submit an entry, please contact Sophie Raichura from the drinks business.

The deadline for entry is Thursday, 5 January, 2017.
