Lunch at Lafite and Petrus for sale

Absentee bidding for a number of “unique Bordeaux experiences”, including lunches at estates such as Lafite and Petrus, is due to close this Monday before a live sale in New York.

Hosted by Paddle 8 auctions and organised by the ‘American Friends of Cité du Vin’, the online sale is a chance for wine lovers to pre-bid on a number of “once-in-a-lifetime” lots before a live sale is held in New York on 27 April.

Absentee bidding for the sale will close on Monday 25 April. All proceeds raised by the successful bids from either the pre- or live sale will go towards supporting the new Cité du Vin museum in Bordeaux – principally the Thomas Jefferson auditorium.

On offer are a number of unique lots including rare vintages of top claret as well as the chance to have lunch with the owners and cellar masters of: Angélus, Lafite, Latour, Petrus, Pavie, Lynch-Bages, Margaux, Mouton Rothschild, Cos d’Estournel, Haut-Brion, Haut Bailly, Cheval Blanc, Pape Clément and Yquem, at the properties.

Prices range from US$3,100 for a two-night stay at Haut-Bailly and lunch with Véronique Sanders as well as a chance to take home a double magnum of the 2010 to US$20,000 for a lunch for two at Petrus cooked by chef Michel Guérard (of three Michelin-starred Les Prés d’Eugénie) and enjoying an imperial of the estate’s 1995 vintage.

One lot combines several lunches and dinners at some of Bordeaux’s leading restaurants, including a particularly intriguing lunch at Palais Rohan with Bordeaux’s mayor, Alain Juppé.
