Brewdog opens two new bars

If you’re a fan of Brewdog then ‘tis the season to be jolly, with the Scottish craft beer brewer opening two more bars today; one in London and another in Aberdeen.

The London bar, in Clerkenwell, will serve 18 draft beers, and the Aberdeen bar will serve 16, with both featuring Brewdog’s own brews and guest beers from across the world.

“We’ve had a stratospherically awesome year,” said James Watt, Brewdog co-founder. “We wanted to end the year with a bang, and what better way than opening a ninth venue in our home country, and another in London.”

Brewdog’s Clerkenwell bar, their seventh in London, will feature beers from Danish brew house Mikkeller and U.S. outfits Oskar Blues Brewery and Stone Brewing Co.

The new Aberdeen bar, in Castlegate, will follow in the footsteps of Brewdog’s very first venue, which launched in the Scottish city in 2010.

Food served by the Castlegate branch has been specifically chosen to pair well with the beers, and will include chicken wings, Bavarian salted pretzels, patty melts and hot dogs.

Brewdog now has 41 venues across Europe and South America, an expansion in part possible because of the brand’s crowdfunding scheme, Equity for Punks.

Mr Watt said: “Our 35,000-strong army of equity punks has propelled us forwards this year, enabling us to keep opening bars in exciting places, bringing craft beer to the people, and expanding into the US.”

The company is planning to open a new brewery in Ohio.
