HDH to hold biggest sale of 2015

Chicago-based fine wine auctioneer, Hart Davis Hart, has said it will host the “largest wine auction of 2015” next month.

auction-hammerThe US’s leading wine auction house will hold its first three-day sale on 10, 11 and 12 December this year at TRU restaurant on St Clair street in Chicago, as per usual.

The sale is expected to bring in an “astonishing” US$6.8-10.2 million with over 3,000 lots of the world’s finest wines being offered.

Central to the auction is a consignment from the east coast which HDH claimes is “one of the most comprehensive collections of fine Burgundy to ever appear at auction.”

This collection boasts 66 lots of Coche-Dury (expected to fetch up to US$463,900 in total), 26 of Armand Rousseau and 37 of Domaine Dujac. In addition to Burgundy, the consignment includes 25 lots of Dom Pérignon Oenotheque dating back to 1971 and a wide selection of Chave Hermitage.

The sale will also include an ex-cellar consignment from winemaker Paul Draper’s Ridge Monte Bello, 53 lots of which are slated to make around US$92,520.

Other celebrated Californians will be there in abundance with 70 lots of Screaming Eagle expected to reach US$391,700 and 83 lots of Sine Qua Non should reach up to US$166,000 altogether.

There is an excellent array of top Italian wines from Bruno Giacosa, Sassicaia and Giacomo Conterno and fine Bordeaux will be excellently represented by the usual suspects – first growths, Petrus, Le Pin and co. in a variety of vintages and formats.
