Argentine restaurant Gaucho is to open its first Asian franchise in Hong Kong later this month promising the city the best of Argentine steak and wine.

Opening at the LHT Tower on Queen’s Road Central, Gaucho will be bringing arguably be the biggest selection of Argentine wines on offer anywhere in Hong Kong, with Gaucho’s list having been composed entirely of Argentine wine since 1999.

With restaurants in the UK, as well as venues in Dubai and Buenos Aires, Gaucho is known for its steaks and ceviches – the “new suishi” – and empanadas.

“Provenance is everything at Gaucho. We source our meat and many of our ingredients from Argentina because we won’t compromise on the authenticity of the experience,” said executive chef Fernando Trocca.

“Passionate beef farmers in the pampas produce cattle exclusively for us, selectively chosen by our experts. The free-range cattle feed on 17 different types of grass, free of pesticides, which makes for extraordinary beef.”

Guests will be able to choose from four different steak cuts, while staff who have trained at Gaucho’s academy will be able to guide customers through which cuts will suit them best, explain the top-grade cuts which will change on a daily basis, the ageing process, how the steaks are cooked and wine pairings.
