Explosion blasts man through wall

A man was blown through a wall after an explosion at a US vodka distillery on Friday.

The explosion happened at about 8.15am at an East Bexar County vodka distillery, causing one worker to be sent flying through a wall, as reported by KSAT.com.

A small fire was sparked by the blast which took firefighters around 40 minutes to extinguish.

The worker did not require hospital treatment and was said to be conscious and speaking when firefighters arrived at the scene.

One nearby resident said he was jolted out of bed by the explosion while others reported a strong smell near the distillery close to the time of the explosion.

Fire officials have said the blast could have been cause by an ethanol or propane leak, with plans to review the surveillance footage to establish the cause.
