Wines from Spain unveils tasting line up

Wines from Spain has confirmed the line up and exhibitors for its 23rd annual trade tasting on Thursday 1 March.

A total of 58 Spanish wine importers will be presenting their latest vintages and new discoveries, while more than 30 exporters in search of UK distribution will be exhibiting for the first time.

In all, there will be representatives from over 60 Denominations of Origin, showing wines produced from more than 80 different grape varieties.

Special features of the event include the Fast Track Tasting, a self-pour stand which offers visitors the chance to taste one wine from each exhibitor.

Pointing to the profile boost given to Spanish cuisine by chefs including Ferran Adrià and Rick Stein, Wines from Spain director Maria José Sevilla noted: “This gastronomic link is encouraging consumers to experiment outside Spain’s classic wine regions and discover new indigenous grape varieties from up-and-coming producers.”

Sevilla also pointed to Spain’s reputation for good value, saying: “In cash-strapped times, Spain is well positioned to deliver quality wines at all price levels to every sector of the market with crisp whites, fruity rosados, complex reds, unrivalled fortified wines and serious sparkling wines which are competing with international rivals.”

After the main trade event from 10.30-6pm, a consumer tasting will begin. This ticket-only fair will feature a Cava bar, Sherry bar, wine walks, live music and tapas prepared by some of London’s top Spanish chefs.
