CGA unveils on-trade index

CGA Strategy has launched Trading Index, a tool designed to help the on-trade better understand the marketplace, both locally and nationwide.

Soft-launched last month, the data allows on-trade outlets to track the best – and worst – performing drinks categories, enabling them to adapt stock levels and pricing policies accordingly.

Elaborating on the initiative, Mark Newton, retail client relations manager at CGA Strategy, said: “We expect most smaller retailers to be interested in a sample EPOS (Electronic Point Of Sale) data arrangement where they will in return be provided with access to the CGA website Trading Index ‘flash report’.”

This report can provide sales data either by the week, quarter or year in a format divided by TV region, outlet type, wet or dry-led channels, drinks category and sub-categories such as golden rum or flavoured vodka.

All data is anonymous, making it impossible for competitors to directly identify each other.

The reports are available for data partners via the CGA website. The Trading Index can be accessed using a personalised login and password, which is provided by CGA after the user has signed a data and confidentiality agreement.
