Tasting notes:

One of the earliest families to export Madeira, the company was founded by João Gonçalves Henriques and has more than 170 years of tradition. It owns some very old vineyards, including the source of the Verdelho for this wine. Medium-deep tawny in colour with orange-green edge, the nose has mirabelle fruit and some golden apple overlaid by burnt sugar, hazelnuts, caramel and a hint of rose petals. Medium in sweetness, the palate has high acidity, good intensity and charry wood with a herbal accent. Really lingering and lifted on the finish. A very good pairing for hard cheeses.  (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
