Tasting notes:

Proelio (‘battle’ in Latin) is the home of the Palacios vinos de finca, wines of the local estates that ‘struggle’ to express the individual terroirs. Finca La Esperilla is the original home of Proelio, and this wine is a field blend from a vineyard planted in 1974, where the different varieties are matched to the different soil types. In the style of a crianza, the wine exhibits a fairly deep ruby colour and bright red cherry, strawberry and raspberry fruit with a baked custard overlay. Lively acidity and lightly grippy tannins frame the medium-bodied palate flavours. An elegant style with very good intensity and length, the wine will work well with dove roasted with mushrooms in red wine. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
