In the Weissenkirchen section of the Wachau, the Achleiten is a celebrated, elongated 22-ha site at 200-400m altitude, very stony with minimal topsoil resulting in pungent wines with notable structure. This wine displays a medium-deep yellow-gold hue and crunchy yellow fruits, white cherry and apricots, creamy wood notes and a hint of kerosene. Just dry, the palate is quite rich, intense and lively, with lovely texture and length. A perfect wine to pair with pork with apricots, brandy and cream. [Patricia Stefanowicz MW]
