Tasting notes:
Located at Peumo in Cachapoal Valley, Viña La Rosa is still owned and operated by founders the Ossa family, and today is led by sixth-generation Ismael Ossa Errázuriz. This cuvée honours Recaredo Ossa, and this estate seems to be going from strength to strength. The wine is a finely-honed gem: deep ruby in colour with just a hint of garnet on the rim suggesting development. There is blackberry, plum and blackcurrant fruit with toasty oak and a hint of mint-choc-chip. Elegant across the palate, the flavours are framed by racy acidity and linen-textured tannins. Nicely integrated and layered, with spices and a touch of earthy development coming through on the lingering finish. The wine would work well as a partner to braised beef roast, with herbes de Provence and garlic seasoning. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
