Julio Camsen established his vineyard in the Gualtallary zone of the Uco Valley in 2010 and named the vineyard La Isabel Estate in his mother’s memory. Today the estate incorporates an elegant hotel and hospitality centre where the range of wines may be explored through a variety of events. This wine, almost opaque purple-black in colour, shows bramble, bilberry and damson fruit, with sweet spice and dark chocolate overtones. Rich and ripe, the palate is packed with flavour and supported by fresh acidity and abundant, velvet-textured tannins, leading to a punchy, lingering finish. A superb choice for rump of beef pot-au-feu spiced with ginger and cinnamon, as well as the usual thyme and garlic. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
