Tasting notes:

Finca El Origen is located in Los Chacayes, the ancient mountainous region at about 1,200m, with sandy-loam soil and plenty of pebbles to ensure excellent drainage, and where nautilus shells from the Jurassic period have been found. This single-vineyard wine from the La Esperanza Estate is exquisite, showing a deep ruby-purple colour, and black cherry and blackberry fruit overlaid with smoke and cedarwood. Sweet-fruited and plush-textured, the palate has dense, velvet tannins, racy acidity and warming alcohol. With hints of allspice, cinnamon and cardamom, the wine is really intriguing and would make a good pairing for San Antonio (Texas) chilli. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
