Tasting notes:
Re-established by Tim Rudd under the backdrop of the dramatic Kleindrakenstein Mountains and from parcels of rescued old vines, Brookdale produces this Paarl gem. As elegant as the label is this wine. Pale yellow-hued, this expression of South Africa Chenin shows quince fruit with orange and lemon custard and gently toasty oak. Dry, the mid-weight palate has racy acidity and beautiful stony minerality with good intensity and a lingering savoury finish. My choice for vegetarian risotto with champignons, yellow onions and fresh green peas. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
