Tasting notes:
With a history in winemaking from the Concha y Toro family since 1883 and farming from the Menéndez family in Patagonia, Ribera del Cuarzo was born. The Italian Countess Noemi Marone Cinzano laid the foundations for her house on what is the bodega estate, now owned by the Menéndez family with Felipe José Menéndez Arguelles as the winery lead. The grapes are grown on terraces overlooking Rio Negro, which provides water and minerals to Patagonia farmlands. This wine is a revelation. Deep ruby-purple in hue, it displays mixed berry fruits overlaid with cigar box and milk chocolate. Deliciously succulent fruit across the palate is framed by fresh acidity and elegant tannins. The oak is well-integrated, giving a wine of lovely balance and length. A hint of mint adds interest. Perfect for baby rack of lamb with redcurrant sauce. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
