Tasting notes:

This icon wine comes from the Catena Zapata Family Vineyards, Nicasia and Angélica, where the vines themselves are derived from ‘Catena cuttings’ – pre phylloxera sélection massale vines from the Angélica vineyard. The wine, deep purple-ruby in colour, exhibits intense blackberries, blueberries and damsons, with undertones of vanilla, roasted nuts and dark chocolate. Rich and full-bodied, the palate flavours are supported by good freshness and dense, grippy tannins. Still youthful, the wine has plenty of interest to suit a traditional cassoulet with a mix of meats: lamb, goose, pork belly and Toulouse sausages, or just an exceptional Gaucho steak with chimichurri sauce.
