Tasting notes:

Pewën is Viña Santa Rita’s icon Carmenere, coming from the small zone of Apalta in Colchagua Valley, where some of the Carmenere vines date from 1938. This wine, one of the leading examples from Chile, is deep ruby-purple in hue, and shows ripe blackberry and dark plum fruit with cedar wood, dark chocolate and violet accents. Spicy and peppery on the palate, the brisk acidity and velvet tannins give structure and length. With excellent varietal definition, this is a wine to match paprika-spiced pork loin with grilled sweet red peppers on a bed of fluffy couscous. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
