Tasting notes:

Founded by Italian immigrant Valentín Bianchi in 1928 to fulfil his ambition of a family winery, the eponymous company has established a reputation for high quality. Coming from a single vineyard block in the Los Chacayes finca, the wine shows an almost opaque purple-black colour and ripe blackberry, plum and morello cherry fruit, accented by spicy oak. Rich and full-bodied, the palate is well-defined, concentrated and balanced, with fresh acidity and dense, silky tannins. A great wine to serve with barbecued lamb ribs, Kalahari-style, rubbed with black pepper and whole coriander seeds, and sprinkled with lemon zest. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
