Tasting notes:
San Felice AD 714 is a high-end producer of Tuscan wines in the eponymous borgo, about 18km north-east of Siena. Head winemaker Leonardo Bellaccini was one of the driving forces behind the 2014 introduction of the Gran Selezione designation. And this exquisite wine, awarded our Grand Master accolade, is one of his team’s successes. Deep ruby-hued, the wine displays intense morello cherry and blackberry fruit, with smoky oak and leather accents. Quite full, rich and concentrated, the palate flavours are supported by brisk acidity and dense, satin-textured tannins. A complete wine, integrated, layered and lingering. A good match for grilled medallions of venison. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
