Tasting notes:

From a start in 2000, the now well-established Heirloom Vineyards focuses on older vines and ‘Aussie-classic’ winemaking: careful extraction and lots of older oak barrel influence. These grapes come from Ross McMurtrie ‘s old vines adjacent to the Salopian Inn and have been fashioned into an excellent wine. Very deep purple-hued, the wine is packed with dark berries and black pepper, with a gentle, sweet-oak overtone. With great varietal definition, the full-bodied palate flavours are supported by bracing acidity and dense, velvet-textured tannins. The spicy finish indicates a match for sweet-flavoured pork ribs.  (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
