Tasting notes:
Perdeberg have a long history of dry-farming many of their vineyards on Malmesbury shale soils and this is one example. From the very long growing season of 2022, the grapes were harvested in April and given a couple of days of skin contact before pressing to increase the lovely aromatics and flavours. The resulting wine, deep gold with lurid orange highlights, displays intense dried apricots, yellow peaches and orange marmalade with creamy oak and hints of honey and orange blossom. Very, very sweet (275g/l r.s.) and lush-textured, but not cloying due to the racy acidity. Really attractive wine with intensity and length, it will pair nicely with apricot tarte or almost any other fruit-based dessert, such as house-made Eton Mess. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
