Based in McLaren Vale, Gemtree Wines is committed to biodynamic and organic wine production. In 1994, Melissa Buttery and her fiancé Mike Brown took control of Melissa’s parents’ property and chose to work with nature, first organically and then taking the extra step into biodynamics. This wine is one of the results. Fine-quality indeed, the wine displays red and black fruits, and a touch of dried cherry, and undertones of tobacco and mint. The midweight palate belies its alcohol with a beautiful core of nicely defined fruit and integrated oak. Lively acidity and svelte tannins give support. Lingering, this gastronomic wine deserves a fine-quality crown roast.  (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
